CTK & The Black & Tan

CTK SMOOTH JAZZ ARTIST

How We Came To Be…

CTK are my initials. Al McKay has always called me by my initials, so I took it as a stage name.

The Black & Tan (B&T) came about when I was working on my first album, Monster.  My father-in-law (Henderson Walker), asked “What’s the name of your band?”.  I told him, “I didn’t have a name. What would you call it?” He said, “The Black & Tan”.  He explained it was the name of a San Diego nightclub in the 50s-70s and he thought it sounded cool for a band.  So, I went with it.

The B&T band members are musicians I’ve met through the years.  I couldn’t imagine continuing my musical journey without them.
